Magnesium

Magnesium is a vital mineral - unfortunately most of us are deficient because intensive farming has depleted it from the soil. Growing a home garden? Put some Epsom Salts in the soil so you will then get more from your vegies.

Here is another site with some good information and includes a list of symptoms often associated with low magnesium (see Magnesium part 2)

Sore muscles, tired, try soaking in a warm bath or foot soak with Epsom Salts.

Your body just doesn't work right without a good supply of Magnesium. Regular blood tests won't show up a deficiency either - your body will do anything to keep the magnesium in your blood at a normal level, so it takes it out of your cells and bones first.
Here is a summary of Magnesium:
  • Good Site
  • You need magnesium to make over 300+ enzymes in your body
  • Helps protect neurons from mercury
  • Critical for heart health (long list including arrhythmia's)
  • Don't absorb calcium, potassium and other vitamins/minerals if low on Magnesium
  • Since magnesium is necessary for proper nerve and muscle function, sub clinical indication of deficiency include muscle ticks and cramps. For more deficiency symptoms go HERE and scroll down to Symptoms of Magnesium Deficiency.
  • If your low, it may be hard to take supplements to get it up. Try using a topical gel. I get mine at Bio Innovations, but you might try a health food store. Untried Source
  • Dr. Russell Blaylock states "It is ironic that doctors prescribe drugs that cost thousands of dollars to treat the complications of heart disease, yet rarely pay attention to one of the most versatile, powerful and least expensive weapons in their arsenal: magnesium."
  • RDA's are based on the 'Sick-Care' model, not the 'Optimum Health' model, but there is some good background information at the BigGov site: BigGovMag
Hope this helps somebody - upping your magnesium has a high return on investment value!
